Wildland Firefighter Training

Fire Management Concepts offers standardized NWCG wildland fire training for wildland firefighters and incident support functions.

Course offerings include:

Wildland Firefighter Training - Fire Operations and Plans functions from S-130 basic training up to S-400 level course work, (with the exception of Air Ops above the 300 level.). We specialize in presenting the new S-215 Wildland Fire Operations in the Urban Interface Course. We were part of the cadre that redeveloped the course and were responsible for the re-writes of the Tactics and Firefighter Safety chapters. Engine Operations, Tactics and Foam Application are another of our areas of emphasis. We have over 20 years experience in Wildland Fire Instruction, have completed the Facilitative Instructor Course and have actually served as Lead Instructor or Course Coordinator on many of these courses.

Incident Command System: We offer ICS courses from I-100 thru Intermediate ICS I-300.

Prescribed Fire Training: We offer experienced, qualified training in Prescribed Fire Coursework, with unique experience in conducting prescribed fire operations in the urban interface, and difficult smoke restricted areas. Special emphasis experience in Prescribed Fire monitoring and research regarding fire effects on the environment.  

Wildland Fire Technology: GPS, GIS applications for Wildland Fire.Weather Information Management System (WIMS), National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS) and Fire Family Plus software. Emphasis on the relationship of WIMS, NFDRS and FF+ to Wildland Fire Management Planning and Preparedness process.
